Mike and I (formerly Suzanne/Suzie Janzen) got married on October 11 2008 in Beaver Creek, in what turned out to be the best weekend ever. At least for us. I've had the best intentions about starting a blog for our new family, initially during the wedding planning process, then after we got married, and then, well, you know how it goes. But now we have some life-changing and note-worthy news....we got a puppy!!
We both came into the relationship as independently functioning adults with our own houses and furniture and habits; it's really nice to finally have something that is truly ours. And for those of you who know that we already have 3 dogs, I know you must think we're crazy. But my old beloved dog Peekay is on his last leg and Mike's dog Fly technically belongs to his employer, Cherry Hills Country Club.
It took a couple of days to pick a new name together, but staying true to the naming conventions of my other dogs it was selected from a book I love (The Art of Racing in the Rain) and something Mike is fond of as well...a Ferrari. Meet our new baby, Enzo:
Adopted from the Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue, he's a black lab / golden retriever mix. He's about 5 months old, was a stray and as such is lacking basic manners. But he's truly a sweetheart and eager to learn, he spent his first day at work with Mike and Fly and kept up pretty well.
I'll back into some stories and pictures from the honeymoon and wedding on future posts, but that's it for today. Keep checking back for updates on how Mike and I are adjusting to the married life, funny tidbits from my life on a plane (yesterday's prize quote, overheard from a passenger to the flight attendant "Do you have an inflatable doughnut or something similar I can sit on? My hemorrhoids are killing me." Seriously. Do we need to know that??), and anything else interesting along the way.
Love,
Suzie
